3. To evaluate best practice in relation to the schools' students and context 


Included is:

- A practical Dance and Movement workshop 

- A practical Drama workshop 

- A collaborative group planning session 

- A Question & Answer session

- A fully resourced and planned six lesson scheme of work


No previous experience is necessary: this course is accessible for teachers of all ages and abilities. 


The length of this course is three hours; available as INSET, Twilight or Term-time training.

Introduction to Dance, Movement and Drama

This course is aimed towards Trainee and Qualified Primary School teachers and non-specialists delivering Performing Arts lessons. The course will take participants through the basic foundations and principles of Dance, Movement and Drama, whilst making links to the National Curriculum. This course aims to inspire and empower teachers to deliver an engaging, exciting Performing Arts Curriculum.


This course can also support STEM teachers looking to unlock creativity, invite curiosity and promote out-of-the-box thinking; all of which are essential skills needed for an effective STEM curriculum. More specifically, our CPD Dance and Movement session includes an introduction to ‘Chance Dance’: a choreographic method that uses numbers, chance and probability to create movement sequences.


Our CPD Course leader, Libby, is an expert in her field; combining 10 years' experience working with children and young people with extensive knowledge of how to cultivate an effective Performing Arts Education. She is passionate about all students have access to an outstanding Arts education, and therefore ensures CPD courses are valuable, effective and student-centered. 


Libby has worked as an Arts Educator for many years, and has experience working in the private sector as Director of a Dance Studio, and within the Public sector as Curriculum Leader for Drama and Dance. She has experience delivering Dance and Drama CPD sessions to: Trainee teachers; NQT's; RQT's; and experienced teachers looking for a skills refresh or update.


She offers CPD courses in the following areas, but is happy to create a bespoke CPD course to fully support your staff:

Core PE & Dance

This course is aimed towards Trainee and Qualified PE teachers working in Secondary schools who are delivering blocks of Dance as part of their Core PE Curriculum, or who have students choosing Dance as a sport in GCSE PE. This course equips teachers with the skills needed to confidently deliver Dance l

lessons in Key Stage Three and Four. Teachers will explore a range of Choreographic and Creative tasks which will develop students' creative and performance abilities. Teachers will develop their subject knowledge of Dance, and will learn how to structure Dance lessons to ensure students' progression and development. As part of the course, teachers will learn a set warm up and two short movement sequences in Street Dance and Contemporary Dance.
