We offer a wide range of dance sessions to suit your needs. Ingenuity Youth Session leaders are PGCE qualified teachers with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and specialist experience in the AQA GCSE Dance and BTEC Performing Arts Courses. We can also support participants choosing Dance as one of their sports for the PE GCSE.
All sessions can be adapted to suit one-off, short term or long term projects, and last from 60 minutes to a whole day.
Introduction to Choreography
This session introduces Choreographic Processes, Devices & Techniques and allows participants to work through the Choreographic Process:
Researching: exploring different stimuli; synthesising ideas
Improvising: teacher-led improvisation
Generating: independent generation of material
Selecting: reflecting and identifying the strongest material
Developing: using Choreographic Devices
Structuring: including introduction to Form and Structure
Refining: using Physical, Expressive and Technical Skills to refine their choreography.

Breathe & Shift
This session teaches participants two of the set phrases needed for Component 1 of AQA GCSE Dance: Breathe & Shift.
With a focus on Physical and Expressive Skills, participants with learn the Technical content whilst developing and embedding key skills such as accuracy, co-ordination, focus and projection.
Note: Ingenuity Youth Dance Session Leaders have undertaken CPD with AQA to ensure the most accurate content is passed on to your students.
The recommended length of this session is 3 hours.
Performance in Practice
This session focusses on delivering practitioner repertoire (for example, ‘Crunchy Granola Suite’ by Bob Fosse) or Ingenuity Youth repertoire (for example, Contemporary Dance performance pieces). Ingenuity Youth repertoire can be used and re-used by teachers within your organisation upon completion of the session.
There is a particular focus on the development of Physical and Expressive Skills through the execution of Technical content. This session would suit preparation for:

Exploring Different Dance Styles
This session explores three distinct dance styles, and provides participants with a theoretical and practical understanding of the Action, Space, Dynamic and Relationship content of each style. The session ends with participants creating a fusion dance piece, using Choreographic Devices to combine elements of three dance styles.
